Yasmin Sooka is a South African human rights lawyer and served as a Commissioner on the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission and also as one of three international Commissioners on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Sierra Leone. She currently chairs the Commission on Human Rights in South Sudan, established by the Human Rights Council in Geneva to investigate serious crimes in South Sudan and collect and preserve evidence for future accountability efforts. Ms Sooka also served on the Secretary-General Panel of Experts advising him on Accountability for War Crimes in Sri Lanka, and served as the former Executive Director of the Foundation for Human Rights in South Africa.
