On 15 and 16 October 2021, the International Nuremberg Principles Academy (Nuremberg Academy) will convene international criminal law experts, practitioners, and young professionals for its annual international conference: The Nuremberg Forum 2021.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, we have decided to organise our annual forum online without compromising the quality and level of engagement on the substantive discussion. On our Nuremberg Forum 2021 virtual platform, participants will be able to join an engaging conference and meet up with people from across the world. Kindly follow our practical guide for more information.
This year’s forum will focus on the following subject:
‘The Fight against Impunity since 1950: Living up to the Nuremberg Principles?’
On the first day, we will look at the framework based on the Nuremberg Principles created in the aftermath of World War II in 1950 and developed in the following decades towards enforcing the fight against impunity. We will specifically look at the goal of the framework and the creation of a system or systems implementing it.
The second day we will further move the discussion and dissect whether the fight against impunity has been living up to the Nuremberg Principles. In a series of dialogues between the high-level stakeholders and justice experts, the Nuremberg Forum 2021 will seek to collectively discuss the challenges pertaining to the common fight against impunity, the upholding of the Nuremberg Principles, and explore how accountability perspectives fit with reality.
Achieving sustainable peace through justice is a work in progress. Stay tuned to learn more about the content of this year's Nuremberg Forum. Soon we will provide more information here. Do you want to participate? Please register below.
